The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon John Riddoch is a product of a very hot Summer which has created a sumptuous wine with good aging potential. It instantly offers up bold chocolate, blackcurrant and plummy fruit that is rich and fleshy but also retains good shape. Impressively structured with a firm base of muscular tannins and juicy acidity, it delivers good fruit generosity with layers of juicy cherry and gravel flavours. A long drying finish is icing on the cake.

Deep ruby. Seriously ripe but brooding aroma of roasted cherry, candied plum, blackcurrant, cigar box and espresso. Chewy, thick and broad, the dark cherry and berry flavors strongly accented by pungent, earthy tobacco, bitter chocolate and cured meat. This really saturates the palate with concentrated, ripe cherry flavor. Some chunky, youthful tannins come up on the back end to provide structure. This major mouthful of ripe fruit possesses the depth, power and structure to support another decade of cellaring.
