Tasting notes
Made from 100% Syrah that spent 18 months in 500-liter puncheons (40% new), the 2013 Lost Soul Syrah has a darker, earthier slant to go with plenty of blueberry, violets and underbrush characteristics on both the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied, with juicy acidity and building tannin, it's slightly closed at the moment, so give bottles a few years.

(from a 2000 planting): Bright ruby-red. Candied raspberry, blueberry and violet on the nose. Boasts lovely energy to its youthfully subdued dark fruit flavors. The pH here is a rather high 3.94 but the acidity is a healthy 6.2 grams per liter. Finishes with good length and a firm tannic spine. Aged entirely in 500-liter puncheons, about one-third new, this Syrah needs a couple years to express itself.
