Just mid ruby. A little vegetal and lacking in freshness as well as fruit. Underachieving doesn't even begin to describe it. (WS)

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Molino del Piano is remarkably pretty, placing fruit first but in such an elegant and seductive way. Pretty strawberry and cherry dusted with sweet spice and flowery perfumes rise up from the glass. It’s silky with cooling acids and minerals lifting the expression, as tart raspberry and hints of spiced orange come forward. This is classically dry, coating the palate in remnants of primary fruit and round tannins, making for a perfectly balanced finale. Very nice.
