Tasting notes
The 2005 Pinot Noir “Shea Vineyard” has a lovely perfume of pain grille, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a medium-bodied wine in a racy, elegant style. The wine reveals the elevated acidity of the vintage but enough fruit to provide balance. Tannin in the finish suggests that this Pinot should be drunk near-term while the fruit is still in place. Deep red. An expansive, floral-accented bouquet suggests wild strawberry, redcurrant, raspberry and candied rose, with seductive baking spice accents. Lush, silky flavors of sweet red berries, cherry and floral pastille pick up deeper suggestions of black tea and cherry skin with air. Finishes bright and zesty, with a fine dusting of tannins and impressive length.
