Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Franc is savory and ferrous, scented of blackberry pie, purple flowers, beef drippings and chargrill with wafts of soy and spice. The palate offers powdery tannins and floral fruits corseted by mineral tones, finishing long and nuanced. This varietal Cabernet Franc was made with only free-run juice and aged 20 months in Jupilles barrels. 100 cases were made.

Inky ruby. Powerful scents of cherry liqueur, cassis, fruitcake, vanilla and incense, along with pipe tobacco, potpourri and smoky oak flourishes that add complexity. Deeply concentrated, vibrant dark berry, bitter cherry, licorice and mocha flavors stain the palate, and a spine of juicy acidity adds support and back-end cut. Suave, supple and extremely young, finishing with powerful dark fruit thrust, sneaky tannins and striking persistence.
Killer notes of new leather, flowery incense, unsmoked tobacco, blackcurrants, and black cherries all emerge from the 2017 Patrimony Cabernet Franc, which is full-bodied and has a pure, multi-dimensional texture, stunning balance, and a great finish. This was a more challenging vintage for Paso Robles, but you wouldn't know it from tasting this beauty. This is 100% Cabernet Franc aged 30 months in new French oak.
