Tasting notes
(10 percent whole clusters and 40 percent new oak) Vivid ruby-red. Cherry liqueur, candied plum, vanilla and incense on the powerfully scented nose. Lush and expansive on the palate, offering sappy boysenberry, cherry pie, spicecake and mocha flavors that tighten up steadily on the back half. Rich yet surprisingly lively as well, thanks to a core of juicy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and spicy thrust on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves a sweet dark berry note behind.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Block 7 has a medium ruby-purple color and notes of chargrill, smoked meat and Indian spices over a core of kirsch and red currant jelly plus a touch of dried roses. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with spicy red and black fruit preserves, supported by rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with peppery nuances and some warmth.
