Tasting notes
Bright dark red. Redcurrant, plum, tobacco and earth aromas and flavors are complemented by sexy spicy oak tones. Juicier and suaver than the Dr. Crane, with good lift and definition to the middle palate and a lightly saline quality adding nuance. Already complex and approachable, and not at all overly sweet. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and very good length. Like the Dr. Crane, this showed more coffee and mocha oakiness with aeration, but this is the most generous cabernet bottled to date under this label.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard reveals a similar dark ruby/purple-tinged hue in addition to a more evolved nose of creme de cassis, cedar, and spice. Supple-textured, with the wood component pushed to the background, it is a forward, evolved, elegant, silky-textured Cabernet offering lots of fruit and character. It should be consumed during its first decade or more of life. Tel. (707) 942-1552
