A big, powerful example of this cuvee, the 2014 Syrah Lagniappe comes from the Red Willow, Forgotten Hills and Minick vineyards and is 100% Syrah. It offers a deep, rich bouquet of smoked herbs, cured meats, blackcurrants and pepper. This is followed by a powerful, tannic red that has full-bodied richness, plenty of mid-palate depth and a big finish. I was surprised by the tannin in this cuvee and it showed quite a bit differently (more fresh and lively) from barrel. Nevertheless, it's a serious wine that need 2-3 years of bottle age.

Oldest Syrah planting in the state. Rich and ripe on the nose. Very loose tannins and lots of easy enjoyment. A hint of leatheriness. Well done! Though it’s probably slightly sweeter than ideal on the front palate. (JR)

(14.1% alcohol): Full ruby-red. Ripe, deep scents of black cherry, dark berries, rose petal and spices became increasingly perfumed with aeration. Broad, plush and deep, with powerful spicy penetration to its primary dark berry and floral flavors. This very strong, concentrated, extremely youthful wine needs time to blossom and has the backbone to evolve gracefully. Dominated today by its medicinal reserve but already showing plenty of texture and sweetness. Finishes with serious ripe, chewy, dusty tannins and excellent rising length. Very classy juice, offering attractive floral lift from start to finish.
