Tasting notes
The 2019 Spice Box Aglianico mixes mentholated herbs with pine shavings, plums and citrus-laced blackberries to form its darkly alluring bouquet. It is decisively approachable, soft and round, yet quickly gains in tension as primary dark fruits drench the palate, underscored by crisp mineral tones and a spike of zesty acidity toward the close. The finish is extremely long and concentrated, yet still remarkably fresh, as hints of black currant and sage fade slowly.

Aged four years in clay and some wood, with another year or more in bottle, the 100% varietal 2019 Aglianico has powerful tannins that need time to unfurl. Long and lengthy, the full-bodied wine is lovely and beginning to become supple, complex, and inviting in tobacco, rose petal, and tar. The fruit is densely defined in blackberry and dark fig. Age 20-30 years more with ease.
