Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2008
Bright ruby-red. Musky black raspberry and chocolatey oak dominate the nose. Dry but rich, with somewhat musclebound flavors of currant, tobacco and underbrush. Dense but tightly wound, with the oak element currently holding the upper hand over fruit. This should show more nuance and sweetness with a few years of bottle aging.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Estate Vineyard reveals impressive briery, blue, and black mountain berry-like fruit aromas in addition to more acidity, tannin, and structure as well as a leaner, austere finish. It is a bigger, more backward effort than its siblings. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Tel. (707) 539-7511; Fax (707) 539-3601
