Score 90+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2006
Saturated bright ruby color. Explosive, high-toned aromas of blackberry and licorice. Powerful, even a bit tough, with an initial blueberry flavor that was joined by cherry syrup as the wine opened in the glass. A youthfully medicinal wine that finishes with huge tannins and pronounced acidity. Like the syrah, this will need time in bottle. This petite sirah, from fruit purchased from Switchback Ridge, will be the last vintage of this wine under the Pride label.
