The 2008 Chardonnay is hard to describe, as it changes constantly in the glass. This is a decidedly inward, shy Chardonnay, but there is tons of nuance in the glass. Oyster shells, crushed rocks and all things mineral inform the long finish. (1 l.)

The 2008 Chardonnay is hard to describe, as it changes constantly in the glass. This is a decidedly inward, shy Chardonnay, but there are tons of nuance waiting to be discovered. Oyster shells, crushed rocks and all things mineral inform the long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018. Edi Kante is one of Friuli’s superstar producers. Over the years his wines have built a marvelous track record. I recently finished all of my 1999 Sauvignon and 2000 Chardonnay Selezioni, and can report that the wines aged exquisitely. There are no 2008 Selezioni, but the straight bottlings are beautiful, and well worth your time. The Vitovksa and Malvasia were aged in used oak, while the Chardonnay and Sauvignon saw a small percentage of new barrels.
