The deep ruby-hued 2007 Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard boasts abundant notes of plums, black currants, black cherries, flowers, and hints of licorice as well as rose petals. Broad and super-rich, it is the most intensely concentrated of these Pinots. For the past twenty years, Patz and Hall has been one of California's finest negociant firms, accessing top quality fruit and vinifying and bottling their wines with minimal intervention. Bright, dark red. High-pitched aromas of blueberry, licorice, mint and rose petal; in a distinctly cool style. Supple on entry, then a bit dry and minty in the middle, showing more plum and pepper than primary fruits. Finishes with notes of flowers and incense and slightly drying tannins. Offers intriguing soil character but could use a bit more flesh and sweetness.
