Tasting notes
Round Pond's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is absolutely gorgeous. Dark plum, cherry, smoke, tar, licorice, smoke, cinnamon and iron meld together in a wine of true distinction and pedigree. A classic example of Rutherford dust with an extra dimension of fruit, the 2009 Reserve is firing on all cylinders today. This is without question one of the most beautiful wines I have tasted from Round Pond.

(from a selection of the best lots and the best barrels within specific blocks, according to consulting winemaker Thomas Brown): Saturated bright ruby-red. Deeper and richer on the nose than the Rutherford bottling, offering scents of dark raspberry, mocha and loam. Then broad, rich and classically dry, with a medicinal quality to the berry flavors and a strong impression of Rutherford dust. Already makes for a major mouthful of cabernet, but the big, chewy tannins call for patience.
