Score 92+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2013
Good medium ruby. Complex, Medoc-like aromas and flavors of medicinal black fruits, licorice, loam, black walnut, tobacco leaf and fresh herbs. Silky and suave on entry, then fine-grained but youthfully imploded in the middle, conveying a strong impression of energy. The firm yet smooth tannins arrive late, allowing the wine's dark fruit flavors to mount impressively on the long, vibrant aftertaste. This is seriously good, and built to age gracefully. But hands off for at least six or seven years, as this wine needs time to unfold and blossom.
