100% Syrah.  Developed fruit-cake and Christmas-spice nose with a minty freshness. Eucalypt and fig with dark chocolate and surprisingly good acidity for such a hefty wine. The oak is integrating and has a coconut cedar spice. An old-school wine that has seen a lot of oak but has dealt with it well. (AC)

Syrah. Dense, ripe and voluptuous but without much subtlety. Rather harsh acidity on the end. Not too obviously Syrah… Very concentrated! (JR)

The 2013 La Cumbre is produced from selected grapes from the Don Maximiliano Vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley and from the Manzanar Vineyard in the cooler Aconcagua Costa; it fermented by individual lot in stainless steel and was raised in French oak for up to two years before blending and bottling. It's still very young and feels marked by the élevage, with plenty of spicy and smoky aromas; it is quite varietal with smoked bacon and violets with a lactic touch and some tar. The palate is medium to full-bodied, quite juicy, round and fleshy, with powerful flavors and good acidity. With time it reveals the cool vintage with some herbal (raspberry leaf) notes. 11,388 bottles produced.
