Score 89/100 · Drink 2022-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Sep 2022
Although not labeled as such, Canard's 2019 The Rescuer Red Wine is 90% Merlot, with bits of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc rounding it out. It's "cherries and chocolate," as one of my old tasting buddies would say, although this wine adds a not-so-subtle dash of cedar as well. It's medium-bodied and just seems to need a bit more richness on the palate to push it forward.

Based on 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Red Blend The Rescuer has lots of up-front black cherry and currant fruits as well as leafy herbs, spice, orange tea, and floral notes. Pure, medium to full-bodied, slightly lifted, and elegant, drink it over the coming decades. 200 cases.
