Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2030, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Feb 2021
Made from a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 23% Merlot, 12% Petite Verdot and 6% Malbec, the 2016 Five begins with aromas of toasty oak and green bell peppers, as the essence of grilled cherries, smoked plum and blackberries waft from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the wine offers a delightful mouthfeel and texture before showing layers of sweet tobacco, bitter dark chocolate, smoked peppers and dusty blackberries. Growing tenants build across the mid-palate before ending with a lingering finish that is food friendly. It's a delightful wine. Give this one more year in the cellar and drink through 2030.
