Score 97/100 · Drink 2022-2047, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2020
One of the greatest values in Napa Valley Cabernet, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard is a barrel selection all from the Lewelling Wight Vineyard. Brought up in 90% new French oak, this inky purple-hued beauty boasts a heavenly nose of ripe blueberries, cassis, violets, and graphite, with more damp earth and tobacco nuances emerging with time in the glass. Slightly deeper and richer than the classic Cabernet Sauvignon release, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a massive mid-palate, sweet tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s one of the sexiest, most opulent, and pleasure bent releases in the vintage.
