Score 92/100 · Drink 2009-2017, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2009

A rich, full bodied Syrah, the 2006 Dry Stack Cellars Syrah Marie's Block is packed with blackberry and earthy dark fruits, graphite, smoke and spice aromatics. The palate is beautifully textured with ripe, upfront fruit and solid underlying structure that carries into a long finish. This outstanding wine should offer lots of pleasure over the next 6 to 8 years.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2008-2018, Robert Parker, Dec 2008

The outstanding 2006 Syrah Marie’s Block exhibits Syrah’s meaty, lard, and bacon fat character along with a smoky, blackberry fruitiness, medium to full body, moderate tannins, and abundant concentration as well as depth. This impressive wine is still young and unformed. Drink it over the next decade. Peter Young’s Dry Stack Wine Cellars appears to have a Midas touch when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc. P.S. Because of conflicts with the Dry Sack Sherry firm, Dry Stack is changing its name to Grey Stack, but according to their web site, nothing will change, including the wines’ names.
