Score 91/100 · Drink 2022-2034, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2021

A classic but accessible expression of fruit from a two-hectare site in the village of Treiso (with its rolling hills and wide views of the beautiful Barbaresco landscape), the Ada Nada 2017 Barbaresco Valeirano reveals a silky and lean appearance with wild berries and crushed flowers. There is an almost exotic touch to the bouquet with hints of coriander or saffron. When all is said and done, this Barbaresco shows character and depth and will be a pleasure to open with a small serving of risotto alla Milanese in the next few years. Production is 10,000 bottles.

Valeirano is located in Treiso with limestone and white marne soils and is sourced from vines planted in 1971. The 2017 Barbaresco Valeirano is aromatic of cranberry compote, vanilla bean, smoke, and anise. On the palate, there is ripe pomegranate, black tea, and blood orange with fine building tannins. Enjoy 2021 through 2036. Based in Treiso of Barbaresco, where they have 9 hectares of vineyard with the majority being within Rombone and Valeirano, this estate was founded in 1919 by Carlo Nada, and today is under the supervision of Anna Lisa Nada and her husband, Elvio Cazzaro.

Treiso. Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Savoury-sweet cherry nose with quite a bit of concentration. Firm, compact, sweet cherry fruit palate perfectly balanced by a good dose of acidity. Coating tannins melt on the finish. Gorgeous grip and intensity, perhaps even too much so, at least for the moment. (WS)
