Tasting notes
Biodynamic and stylistically-maverick Alsace vigneron Marc Tempe joined with film producer and wine enthusiast Reinhard Brundig in 2002 to found the Domaine du Courbissac. A 2004 Minervois La Liviniere Pandora offers bright, ripe black raspberry and black cherry aromas, and extraordinary concentration of sweet fruit and polished texture on the palate, with riveting complexity from notes of fruit pit, licorice, black tea, chocolate, chalk, and roasted meats. Talk about combining head-turning, come-hither ripeness with head scratching intrigue: here you go! In its combined appeal to the visceral animal and intellectual sides of the taster, this could be a fine red Burgundy ... except of course for the sheer ripeness, plushness ... the absence of snob appeal, and no doubt the price!
