Tasting notes
Quite lifted rancio and grilled-almond notes with a concentrated dried-plum and sultana-flavored palate. Nutty finish. Drink now.

Pale amber-brown in color, the NV The Tawny 22 Year Old is made of Verdehlo, Semillon, Muscat Petite Grain, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Grenache, Touriga, Tinta Molle, Muscadelle, Trebbiano, Pedro Ximenez – in short, almost anything that grows on a grapevine. It is produced in a small oak barrel Solera system containing wine with an average age of 22 years. On the nose it displays lovely walnut and treacle aromas alongside some dried fruit cake and coffee cake notes. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated it is very sweet and very spicy with walnut flavors and a long finish. Drink it now. Importer: Baum Wine Imports, Aurora, CO.
The concentrated non-vintage The Tawny 22 Year Old was aged 22 years in small oak and larger hogshead barrels. It offers a medium amber color along with explosive aromas and flavors of scorched earth, honey, molasses, toffee, caramel, and orange marmalade. It is a brilliant fortified. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
The medium to light amber-colored non-vintage 22 Year Old Tawny boasts a gorgeous bouquet of melted toffee, caramel, espresso roast, honeyed fruits, and a hint of balsamic vinegar. Dense, rich, sweet, and unctuous, it is a hedonistic turn-on ... actually rather pornographic. A great bargain for what it represents, it can be drunk over the following 5-10 years.
