The 2020 Mayote Estate is spicy yet delicate and understated, wafting up with a perfumed blend of black raspberries, lavender and crushed stone. It's soft and enveloping, tugging at the senses with tart wild berry fruits underscored by saline minerals. A cooling acidity adds lift and poise. The 2020 finishes incredibly long and staining. Dark chocolate nuances appear under an air of inner violet florals and the silkiest tannins. This is a beauty, yet it needs time to blossom fully. The Mayote is a blend of 39% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot and 27% Petit Verdot matured for twenty-two months in new French oak.

The 2020 Mayote is made from free-run Cabernet Franc (39%), Merlot (34%) and Petit Verdot (27%) matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Deep ruby, it opens with notes of tar, leather and a youthful touch of brown sugar from new oak with a core of cassis and touches of roasted peppers and cigar box. The full-bodied palate has refreshing acidity, a gently rustic frame, a deep core of fruit and a long, tarry finish. Drink it with grilled meats over the next 3-5 years.

The 2020 Mayote offers lots of pure blue fruits and minerality as well as a medium to full-bodied style on the palate. It's more elegant and streamlined than the more broad, expansive 2019 yet shines for its incredibly purity and elegance, while still bringing serious Paso fruit and texture.
