Score 88/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2019
The 2016 Zinfandel Black Chicken (14 months in 20% new French oak) reveals a medium ruby/purple color as well as attractive Zinfandel notes of spiced black raspberries, plums, cedar, and brambly herbs. This medium-bodied, elegant Zinfandel is nicely balanced, has fine tannin, and is a classic, old-school Zin to drink over the coming 7-8 years.
