Medium-bodied and silky-textured, the 2002 Pinot Noir Elton Vineyard sports a spicy red berry-scented nose. Its flavor profile is dominated by red cherries, yet notes of currants come to the fore in the finish. Less plush than other Ken Wright offerings, it is well-focused, delineated, and reveals copious quantities of tannin in its long finish. Tel. (800) 571-6825 www.kenwrightcellars.com

Medium red. A blast of raspberry and nutty oak on the nose. Sweet and fruit-driven on the front half, then a bit clenched on the back, with an impression of alcoholic harshness on the finish. Has shape and palate presence, but could use more depth of flavor and personality.
