A spectacular effort from Brewer-Clifton, the young 2007 Pinot Noir Melville Vineyard appears to have barely budged since I first tasted it in 2009. Notes of cloves, cinnamon, blueberries, black raspberries and underbrush are followed by a full-bodied, impeccably well-balanced, pure wine with great texture as well as length. This amazing Pinot Noir (15% natural alcohol) should age gracefully for another 10-15 years.

Light red. Heady aromas of strawberry, black pepper, spices, smoky minerals and gunpowder tea. Round and silky, with a firm tannic spine adding shape to the sappy strawberry and blackberry flavors. Becomes spicier with air and finishes with a strong echo of dark berries.
