Tasting notes
The 2022 The Derivative White Wine is a blend of 81% Semillon and the rest Muscadelle that was aged in a combination of large barrels and stainless steel. A bright straw/yellow color, it opens to fresh, inviting, fruity aromas of white peach, cantaloupe, candle wax, wet stone, and fresh tropical flowers. Medium-bodied, it has a modest level of acidity and will have some aging potential, and with time it’s going to be a fantastic textural white. As it is now, it’s a very pleasing wine that can stand up to spicy food, and it would be fantastic with sushi. Drink it over the next 6-8 years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it hangs on longer.

The 2022 The Derivative is a blend of 81% Sémillon and 19% Muscadelle. Classy and polished in the glass, the 2022 has a lot to offer. Apricot, tangerine peel, chamomile and exotic white flowers are some of the notes that grace this understated, brisk white from Carlisle.
