Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2022
The 2019 The Derivative is an attractive Sémillon/Muscadelle-based white to drink now and over the next handful of years. Apricot, passionfruit, tangerine oil and tropical accents give this soft, open-knit white plenty of exotic flair.

The 2019 The Derivative checks in as a Semillon-heavy blend that includes 37% Muscadelle, 14% Colombard, and 2% Palomino. There are a tiny 385 cases produced. Candied lemons, honeyed pineapple, exotic flowers, and quince notes all emerge from this exotic, singular, medium-bodied white that has terrific purity and a clean, classy finish. It should shine with a cheese course, tapas, or any lighter fare that could be hard to pair wine with for that matter.
