Tasting notes
The 2019 Pinot Noir Harper's Rest Estate is notably pure and perfumed this vintage. It is scented of raspberries, blueberries, saline and licorice with notes of orange peel, conifer and lilac that come into focus as it spends time in the glass. The palate is seamlessly structured by super-fine tannins and crescendos of refreshing acidity. It boasts a deep yet weightless core of nuanced fruit and a very long, fragrant finish that compels you to take another taste.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Harper's Rest Estate Vineyard is forward, with sweet spice and a perfume of crushed lavender and black raspberry. The palate is full of purple flowers and clove, with supple texture and an elegantly rounded style. It’s lovely now but will benefit from a year or more in cellar. Drink over the next 10 or more years.
The 2019 Pinot Noir Harper's Rest opens with a burst of crushed raspberry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and rose petal all race out of the glass. Aromatic and fleshy, with terrific persistence, the 2019 is impeccably balanced from start to finish. This is very nicely done. Here, too, I find the ultra heavy bottle a total turn off.
