Tasting notes
The 2017 Pinot Noir Wild Thyme is pretty, gracious and very nicely lifted. Bright red cherry, blood orange, white pepper, mint and floral notes give this perfumed, expressive Pinot much of its personality and sense of refinement. All the elements are impeccably balanced throughout. In 2017, the Wild Thyme is a wine of real grace and class.

An addition to the range, the 2014 Pinot Noir Wild Thyme emerges from a 40 acre parcel on the Sonoma Coast between Three Sisters and Blue Slide Lee Martinelli Sr. planted in 2009. Soaring aromatics are the first sign the Wild Thyme is a special wine. We are on the Sonoma Coast. Exquisitely layered on the palate and dazzling throughout, the 2014 possesses magnificent purity and class. This is a magnificent Pinot Noir from Martinelli. Fewer than 100 cases were bottled. Readers who can find it should not hesitate, as it is a total knock-out.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
