Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2015

(15.6% alcohol): Deep, dark red. Very ripe, rather extreme aromas of black raspberry liqueur, kirsch , chocolate and mocha verge on port-like but displayed a lively violet topnote with air. Suave, fine-grained and sweet in the mouth, with kirsch , spice and truffle flavors delivering excellent intensity as well as a touch of alcoholic warmth. Harmonious acidity gives a juicy quality to the savory finish, which features firm, building, tongue-dusting tannins. This should continue to evolve and soften.

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Left Bank (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) displays an inky/ruby/purple color along with attractive blueberry and black raspberry fruit, no hard edges, lots of glycerin, a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, and no sense of heat or heaviness. It is another wine that makes a mockery of those who claim high alcohol wines cannot be matched with food, or are fatiguing to drink. This 2004 has brilliant vibrancy and uplift, no doubt due to the impressive terroir(s) used by Les Behrens. Enjoy it over the next 10-15+ years. Tel. (707) 963-1774

(15.6% alcohol) Full, deep red. Exotic, slightly high-toned aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, flowers and tobacco, plus a whiff of menthol. Lush and sweet, with ripe currant and chocolate flavors verging on porty. Firm acids and tongue-dusting tannins give it shape, though.
