Score 90-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Nov 2016
Bright dark red. Nose a bit blocked in the early going, with the wine's spicy oak component dominant today. Then dense and slightly medicinal on the palate, offering distinctly dark flavors of black cherry, licorice and minerals. Finishes with serious but even tannins and very good subtle length. This rather inscrutable wine offers less early sex appeal than the lower-altitude Petite Chapelle and will need more time in bottle to sort itself out.
