Tasting notes
Straight-up brilliant stuff, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V checks in as 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and the rest Petite Sirah, all of which spent 28 months in 85% new French oak. Full-bodied, ripe, powerful, and opulent, it still holds onto a beautiful sense of elegance and purity. With loads of currant and cassis-like fruits, plenty of tobacco, chocolate, and licorice, a stacked mid-palate, and a great finish, drink this rock star bottle of wine over the coming 20+ years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V exhibits smoky charcoal embers intermixed with red and blackcurrants, a touch of tobacco leaf and underbrush. The wine is medium-bodied with silky tannins, excellent purity and length. It is a 400-case cuvée aged 22 months in 80% new French oak. Drink it over the next 15 years.
