Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2023

The 2021 Cinsault (Sonoma County) from Preston Vineyard in Dry Creek, is pliant, supple and super-expressive. Sweet red/purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and blood orange are front and center. The Sonoma County Cinsault has a bit more overt fruit and body than the Lodi version.

Made from the oldest Cinsault in the world! Planted in 1886 for George West. This sees 11 months in neutral French oak (the Turley version gets six months). Mid to light purplish crimson. Very attractive cherry fruit. Quite soft and super-fruity. Great freshness. Great balance but maybe not for the long term. Impressive length. (JR)
