Graceful and vibrant, Littorai’s Platt Vineyard offers a lot of presence and flavour concentration with easy movement, mouthwatering acidity, and an almost creamy mouthfeel. Notes of mixed berry and white cherry with conifer accents and a touch of red apple. (ECB)

Sweet tobacco, red cherries, cinnamon, smoke and pretty earthy notes are woven together in the 2012 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard. Pliant and expressive Pinot Noir is an excellent choice for drinking today and over the next few years. Hints of orange peel, star anise and cinnamon add an exotic flair on the expressive finish. The 2012 could use another year or two in bottle for the tannins to settle down.

(13.5% alcohol): Good medium red. Subtle, soil-driven aromas of musky strawberry, menthol, brown spices and flowers. Surprisingly sweet following the reticent nose, showing a rather plump, lush texture to the spicy red berry flavors. Not yet hugely complex but the wine's harmonious acidity and even tannins extend the savory finish.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is another wine endowed with serious structure, power and depth. Today, the purity of the Platt fruit is a bit suppressed by the wine's recent bottling, but there is no shortage of intensity or volume in the glass. I am intrigued to see how the 2012 develops over the next 6-12 months. Today, it is a wine of considerable potential.
