There are 230 cases of the dark ruby/purple-hued 2003 Syrah Goldridge Vineyard. Its big nose of charcoal, blackberries, new saddle leather, and meaty scents is accompanied by a medium to full-bodied, soft, supple Syrah that is already accessible. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 823-2378; Fax (707) 823-0918

Bright, deep ruby. Primary, almost grapey dark fruit aromas complicated by smoked meat, pepper and chocolate. Juicy and peppery but ripe, with slightly herbal but nicely concentrated flavors. The very primary character follows through in the mouth. Like the cabernet, this wine is not yet expansive and needs some further bottle aging. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins.
