The ruby-colored 1999 Romanee-St.-Vivant has an appealing nose of freshly cut flowers and red berries. It is a well-made, medium-bodied, silky-textured wine with appealing raspberry, strawberry, and cherry fruit that lead to a firm, tannic finish. It lacks the depth and density of fruit to merit a more exalted review. Projected maturity: now-2006. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770.
