Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2018

The 2013 Right Bank is a dark, powerful wine with an intriguing combination of deep, Merlot fruit and lifted Cabernet Franc aromatics. The tannins are still quite firm in this potent, brooding wine. As is the case with so many 2013s, the flavors are decidedly dark. Black cherry, plum, licorice and chocolate gradually flesh out, but only with great reluctance. The Right Bank is closed and less expressive than it has been in previous tastings.

An intense, dark wine, the 2013 Right Bank hits the palate with serious power and depth. Black cherry, plum, bittersweet chocolate, cloves and leather give the 2013 much of its brooding, virile personality. This is an especially dark Right Bank, with all the elements in the right place, but there is also enough inner sweetness and richness to make me think the 2013 will drink well with minimal cellaring.

A dark, intense wine, the 2013 Right Bank offers good energy, with plenty of richness throughout. Mocha, espresso, black cherry, spice, new leather and lavender flesh out in a forward, dense wine to drink over the next handful of years. Today, I am surprised to see a bit of heaviness that I don't associate with the Right Bank, while the flavor profile is very much on the dark side of things.

The 2013 Right Bank is dark and explosive throughout. Black fruit, iron, smoke, leather and tobacco flesh out over time. The 2013 is noticeably dark and vertical in terms of its structure, in a style that is both very ripe and tannic. The blend is 66% Cabernet Franc and 34% Merlot.
