Tasting notes
The 2005 Proprietary Red La Palette is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot, all from Alexander Ranch fruit. Complex aromas of bay leaf, roasted herbs, black currants, loamy soil, and toasty oak, along with a medium to full-bodied, elegant finish suggest this 2005 can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years. Karen Culler (who also makes the wines for Wolf Family Vineyards and Ladera) fashions some impressive cuvees under her own label. Tel. and Fax: (707) 257-0567

(a 91/9 blend of cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot) Saturated ruby. Black fruits, licorice, leather, minerals and bitter chocolate on the nose. Dense, pliant and nicely concentrated, with a restrained sweetness to the fruit-driven flavors of blackberry pastille, licorice and violet. Ripely tannic and soundly structured on the back. With extended aeration, this was all minerals and violet.
