Iron, red cherries, plums and smoke yield to the raw, unrestrained power of this cool hillside site on the northern edge of Napa Valley. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a striking wine. Beguiling aromatics meld into dark fruit in a wild, unrestrained Napa Valley Cabernet loaded with personality. Today the 2012 is raw and rough around the edges, with a certain ruggedness that seems to reflect the nature of this mulit-faceted hillside site in Calistoga. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2012 is massive, structured and in need of serious time. It's hard to know exactly where the 2012 is going, but is sure is going to be an interesting ride. The blend includes 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
