Tasting notes
(14.6% alcohol; a blend of fruit from Oakville and Rutherford): Good medium ruby. Raspberry, mocha and nutty oak on the somewhat advanced nose, along with a slightly roasted, truffley quality. Sweet, plush and fairly deep, but communicates a distinctly roasted quality to its plum, currant, licorice and herb flavors. Finishes with substantial dusty, building tannins and a hint of incipient maderization.

Composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Syrah that saw about 48% new French oak, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Benchland Select is a quintessential Napa Cab with power, beautifully ripe cassis fruit, some terroir earthiness in the background, sweet tannin, full body and a long finish. This beauty can be drunk now or cellared for another 10-15+ years. Tel. (707) 963-5221
