The 2007 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard Block 8 from Foxen is a beauty. Showing lots of darker fruits, earth, licorice, and hints of smoke, it's ripe and textured on the palate, with nicely integrated acidity and a balanced, clean profile. It's well- balanced and will keep for another decade or more. This cuvée is a mix of mostly clone 2A, with smaller amounts of Dijon 113 and Mt. Eden, and was raised in 60% new French oak.

Deep red. Highly perfumed bouquet shows spicy red berries, incense and dried rose. Pretty exotic stuff, offering sweet strawberry and raspberry flavors and a refreshing note of bitter cherry skin. The finish delivers solid punch and lingers with impressive persistence.
Slightly more challenging to evaluate, but loaded with potential is the 2007 Pinot Noir Block 8 Bien Nacido Vineyard. A dark ruby color is followed by a distinctive bouquet of earth, graphite, black cherries, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, and more tightly wound than the Julia’s Vineyard, with good acidity as well as an earthy, spicy character, it will benefit from another year of bottle age, and should drink well for 8-10 years.
