Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2013

(50% cabernet sauvignon, 20% each cabernet franc and petite sirah, and 10% petit verdot): Good bright medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, violet, licorice and dusty spices. Juicy and penetrating, with a distinctly peppery, cabernet-typical quality to the black fruit flavors. Finishes with a youthfully tough tannic spine that calls for patience. From vines harvested on the early side in 2010, notes Les Behrens.

Score 92/100 · Drink 2013-2018, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2012

The 2010 Red Blend The Collector is drop-dead beautiful. The significant presence of Cabernet Franc gives the Collector a level of aromatic nuance and delineation that is rare in Napa Valley wines. Dark plums, cherries, cloves, cinnamon, scorched earth and incense all come together in this voluptuous, inviting red. Hints of violets, licorice and tobacco linger on the super-ripe, racy finish. A delicious, entry-level red, the Collector will drink nicely upon release and for at least a handful of years beyond. The Collector is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Petite Sirah and 10% Petit Verdot.
