This fine example of a uniquely Australian wine style took top gold at the Sydney show. Featherlight with super-racy lemony fruit, lots of refreshment and just a hint of varnish GV (JR)

The 2006 Mount Pleasant Cellar Aged Elizabeth Semillon flaunts a very pretty, perfumed nose of kumquats, candied peel, paraffin wax and pineapple paste with suggestions of crushed stones and coriander seed. The dry, light-bodied palate is filled with expressive, aged Semillon notes supported by a racy acid line before finishing with great persistence. Drink it now to 2019+. Mount Pleasant wines are produced by McWilliams; www.mcwilliams.com.au; represented in the USA by E & J Gallo.
