Tasting notes
Grapes for the 2022 Pinot Noir Pietra Sea View Ridge were harvested on September 3, before the Labor Day heat wave. Matured in 25% new French oak puncheons, it has detailed aromas of blackberries, mossy bark, mushroom, nori and rose petals. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, spicy flavors. It’s structured by silky tannins and bright acidity and has a long, nuanced finish. 125 cases were made.

The dark red 2022 Pinot Noir Seaview Ridge Vineyard offers another level of complexity and a touch of umami richness in its notes of black cherries, sea brine, brushy herbs, and licorice. Medium-bodied, it takes on greater intensity and concentration on the palate, with ripe tannins, a darker mineral tone, and a long finish. It is another very well-styled wine that has the potential to age gracefully over the next 10-12 years.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Seaview Ridge is redolent of blue/purplish fruit, new leather, spice, tobacco, incense and mocha. A wine of depth and textural presence, the 2022 is packed to the core. Even with all of its intensity, the Seaview remains vibrant and beautifully balanced.
