Tasting notes
Winemaker Tony Biagi only bottles five to 10 barrels of the "36" each year. A barrel selection that sometimes includes co-ferments, it tends to be See Clone Cabernet Sauvignon with a solid dose of Petit Verdot. The 2022 Blueline Estate 36 offers up some slightly chunky black cherry and plum notes from high proportion of Petit Verdot, but is full-bodied, creamy and lush, only asserting a bit more structure on the lengthy finish. Still, those tannins are soft and wonderfully ripe, no serious barrier to present-day enjoyment.

The 2022 Blueline Estate 36 is the most successful of these wines from Hourglass. Dark and pliant, the 2022 offers up inky dark fruit, spice, leather and lavender. There's a good dose of Petit Verdot (23%—the highest ever), which really bolsters the wine nicely.
