From a cool vineyard located at 2,200 feet above sea level (this is up there) planted on eroded, well-draining sandstone soils, the 2015 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard was fermented with 10% whole clusters and aged in 60% new French oak. It offers an exotic perfume of wild strawberries, rose petals, plums, flowers, and toasty oak. This gives way to a sensationally textured, seamless, heavenly textured Pinot Noir that shows why people love this variety. Give it a year or two, count yourself lucky, and enjoy bottles over the following decade. This was a brilliant lineup of wines from the husband and wife team of Kenneth and Laura Juhasz, self-proclaimed Burgundy lovers who look for cooler, hillside, rocky sites to work with. Their wines all come from purchased fruit. Classic, old-school, balanced Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are the name of the game here.
