88% barrel fermented, 8 months in oak, 16% MLF. Expressive and ripe on the nose, with all the typical stuffing of Napa Chardonnay. Aromatically spiced oak giving clove and something a bit peppery. Plenty of alcoholic warmth. (RH)

The attractive 2012 Chardonnay reminded me of Chardonnays from the 1970s and early 1980s. The wine was aged in French oak for eight months, but you would never know that from the aromatics and flavors. With delicate, crisp citrus, this fresh, lively, Chablis-like effort reveals a hint of minerality. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
