Tasting notes
Brooding and powerful in the glass, the 100% Syrah Diamond Bar is going to require a bit of patience to be at its best. Black cherry, leather, smoke, licorice and tobacco are some of the many notes that run through the 2016. There is no shortage of depth or concentration, but the 2016 remains tight and forbidding at this stage. Even so, it is very clearly a special wine in the making,

Lots of smoked meat, dark fruit, foie gras and white pepper. Medium-to full-bodied, tight and silky with a juicy and flavorful finish. Loving this. Drink now.
The deep purple-colored 2016 Syrah Diamond Bar comes from the Skinner Family Vineyard in Fairplay and spent 16 months in 50% new French oak. A Côte Rôtie-like perfume of blueberries, blackberries, violets, bacon fat, and tapenade gives way to a medium to full-bodied Syrah that has impressive purity of fruit, fine tannins, and a great finish. Another awesome wine from Keplinger, it’s capable of evolving for 10-15 years.
Composed entirely of Syrah aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak, the 2016 Syrah Diamond Bar is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up fragrant black cherries, black plums and tar notes with touches of violets, black soil and peppercorns plus a waft of tapenade. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a lively line boosting the densely packed, muscular fruit, finishing long. 75 cases produced.
